Wubba time!

I finally got my Kong Wubba!!!! Time to go play.....squeak, squeak!!!!!

Thanks....

Thanks for your suggestions and support on this potty issue. My people are wondering if maybe I only ever went outside on a leash because when I go outside on my own, I mostly stand around and will pee where ever I see Stella go (it's a boy dog thing). We do have a routine on when we take potty breaks and that helps...sometimes. Sometimes though I don't feel like walking out on the cold snow and will just sit at the door waiting to go back inside. I was always an inside dog until I went to the rescue where I had to stay outside for the 3 weeks I was there. My people have wondered if maybe I'm afraid that if I go out,  I will have to stay out. I do love a cozy, warm house. I have only had a couple of accidents in the house so it's not too big of a problem. And technically it was just one accident. That first time I was just letting everyone know that I had found a new home (another boy dog thing). I guess my people and I have to figure out how to communicate better. Maybe they just don't understand Kentucky (where I'm from) too well.

Bell training

So my people got a bell a few days ago and have had it hanging on the back door. They've been giving Stella some time to get used to it because she thought it was a little scary at first (I'm discovering that Stella thinks everything is scary). She's used to it now and they want to teach me how to ring when I have to go. For some reason, I'm not very good about telling them when I need to go. What I'm curious about is how did your peoples help you to understand to ring the bell when you need to potty? I hate to admit this but I'm not the quickest learner. At least I'm a very happy go lucky kind of dog though and I do want to please. Peeing in the house is not the best way of letting your people know you have to potty. I've learned that the hard way. Sitting in front of the door also does not work unless there is someone in the room to see you.

Christmas Troubles......

My first Christmas in my new home was......mostly nice. I'm starting to see why my people have some of the rules they do though. The new girl had her family over for Christmas dinner and she was doing lots of cooking. The kitchen smelled so good that I kept having to go in and check out the food on the counter. I guess I should have listened to Stella when she told me that it wasn't a good idea and that I should stay out and play with the family instead. I just happened to wander in there to check on the turkey when the girl was taking a hot dish out of the oven. Mashed potatoes went flying across the kitchen. I got yelled at and chased out of there too quick to try any but from what I heard they were really good. My girl was pretty upset about it after having spenting a lot of time peeling the potatoes and the money wasted (she said they were organic, whatever that means and that there was a whole thing of cream cheese in them). After that I stayed out of the way and was rewarded with my own nice dinner.

Everything went smoothly after until the family had gone home and my people were relaxing in front of the fire. I suddenly had to go and I didn't bother to let anyone know.....well, I guess I did by peeing on the living room carpet right behind them. Man, I sure heard "BAD DOG" a lot over that one. So they stuck me outside to finish and then I immediately got in trouble again. This time for eating eating the leftover turkey pieces put out for the kitties that live outside. I guess that really wasn't very nice of me since I could still be living outside too.

Other than those little things Christmas was actually pretty fun. I got some new squeaky toys which I've been working hard on destroying. I didn't get any Wubbas but my people said I will. The pet store didnt' have any so they will go look somewhere else and promised one each for both Stella and I.

Hello to all my new friends who left comments and a big thanks to Huffles for sharing my blog with everyone. You can never have too many friends.

Trying to be good so I get some presents

Yeah...a squeaky! I'm trying to cram it all in my mouth so it won't get away.

Cheers! Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

I'm ready

The snow has been falling......

The tree has been decorated and all the presents wrapped.....

Now we just have to wait for Santa Paws to come and the dinner to be cooked. I've been trying really hard to be so good that I just know that Santa Paws will bring me a Snugga Wubba and lots of yummy treats.

By the way, I just met another new doggie blogger. His name is Byron and you can read his blog here. He sounds like a really great pup.

Rules and routines

I still really like my new home but I keep over hearing the humans talk about "routines" and "rules" and that I need to start understanding them. So far I've learned about the garbage (see previous post), and that stealing food, even if it is doggie treats off the counter is also frowned upon. Humans also do not like being woken up at any time of the night and they expect you to potty at what ever time they decide to put you out whether you gotta go or not. Stella has seemed to adopted pretty much all these regulations but my agenda is to revert her back to being a dog. She needs to learn to break some rules. These humans need to loosen up and allow some spontaneity in their lives.

I'm also tired of hearing the words "sit", "stay" and "down". The humans are stingy with the treats unless I act like I am willing to obey all those commands.  My humans are really good about playing with me, giving me belly rubs and good food. I just need to teach them a few things so that I will get spoiled like I was with my old people.

And one last thing. There are these really long legged things that hang out around the yard (I think the people called them deer). I've tried going after them to show the people that I am ready to defend our borders but that has also been under appreciated. These humans have so much to learn!

Bad dog.....

I just got in trouble and called a bad dog. I ripped opened the bag of garbage sitting in the kitchen and helped myself to a snack. I guess that isn't allowed here. And as even further punishment, Stella got to clean up the bread crumbs I left on the floor.

I gotta go look really sad and pathetic so I won't be in touble anymore.

A week!

So Saturday was my one week anniversary at my new home. It sure feels like I've been here longer than that. Stella is my new best friend. We have been having so much fun playing together. my new people tried to take some photos of us playing Can't Get Me but they were just a blur of black and white. We have been sleeping really well afterward. My new girl was happy because she was actually able to get a photo of Stella. She said it's really hard to do because Stella is always moving.

We also decorated the Christmas Tree but I was told that I can't treat it like an outside tree so I don't have much interest in it. I am excited that there is a stocking on the fireplace for me. I guess that means my new address has been forwarded on to Santa. That's good because I've destroyed my stuffie's and could use some new ones.

I'm really disappointed that I got adopted just a little too late to be part of the DWB Christmas card exchange. It sure sounds like fun and a great way to get to know more dogs and kitties. Maybe next year I can be part of it.If anyone would like a card  from me (and Stella), send me your email to kanesblog (at) gmail (dot) com.

Happy Friday

My goal this weekend is to try to get around to all my new friends blogs to say hello and thank you for welcoming me. I don't know if I'll be able to do it because my new peoples also plan on taking me to meet their (my new) families and to make me pose for some pictures. They say bloggies are more fun when for others to look at when they can see me. It's going to be a busy weekend that's for sure. I'm sure it will be fun though.

I've been really happy in my new home. I've gotten rawhide to chew on and I have a favorite squeaky toy. I can play with it forever. My new house has a really big yard with lots of trees. I'm hoping to also get to go outside and spend some time exploring it. The weather hasn't been so great since I've moved in so my trips outside have been brief. I also have a great doggy bed to sleep on at night. Sometimes I'm so amazed at how great my life is that I have to get up during the night and wake my people up to thank them. They are really humble though and don't seem to want me to do this. Instead they tell me to go back to my bed.

Well that's all for now.

Hello!

Hi. I'm Kane. Last Saturday I moved into my new home. I've been settling in quickly because I really like it there. I have great people who have given me lots of love (and treats).  There is also the other resident dog, Stella there so I am not alone when my new people go to work. It's been great to be an indoor dog again. It's starting to get cold outside.

I have lots to write about but I just wanted to give a quick introduction before I got started. I'll write more later.
